Yahoo, it’s Edublogs Awards Time!

Which means another year of not winning…but seriously, I usually don’t make a big hullabaloo over the Edublog Awards, mostly because I’m not in the habit of singling out one particular greatness in an ocean of fantastic thought. However, I’m more than happy to campaign for others, and have on occasion written about the greatness of bloggers I know. So in order to get a jumpstart on the nomination process, I decided I’d offer up my own personal nominations for the Edublog Awards 2008. There’s a first time for everything, eh?

It’s fairly simple to nominate your favorite Education-based blog, wiki, or web 2.0 site. Simply write a blog entry that includes a link to this page on the Edublogs Award site. Then write the names (with links!) of the sites you’r nominating. THEN, visit the official nomination form in order to submit a link to your naminations. The whole blog posting is probablyl just to help generate interest, and it appears to be working, as there are already several pingbacks on the nomination post.

So here goes, my official nomations for the Edublog 2008 Awards:

  • Best Teacher Blog: Dy/Dan (the man has a gift with the written word)
  • Best Resources Sharing Blog: Videoconferencing Out on a Lim (Janine goes above and beyond the call of duty to connect schools across the globe through her efforts)
  • Best Educational Wiki: Kidpedia (Alright, so this is the ambititous “wikipedia for kids” wiki I set up for my 5th graders, but they did such an AMAZING job with it last year, that I really think they deserve some recognition. And they really did all of the work on it themselves!)
  • Best Individual Blog: BionicTeaching (Tom Woodward will make you laugh, cry, and ponder what it really means to be an educator in the 21st century)

That’s it, those are my nominations. Check back in a few weeks to see who I’m going to root for once the nominations are finalized. OH, and feel free to nominate a few of your own if you have the time 🙂

  1. Ben!! Thanks so much for the nomination! I’m sure other Web 2.0 blogs will be more popular, but it’s nice to be noticed. Thanks for all you’re doing with your writing too!
